I'm in limbo [Apr. 30th, 2009|07:04 pm]
[mood | complacent]

School ends soon. I'm sick of school, but I wish I could stay a little bit longer to learn more stuff and better prepare for the workforce. Oh well.

What I'm reading now:

Naruto 27
Ultimate X-men 18-19
The New Avengers (1-10)

I don't know how I feel about the new Wolverine movie. Each X-men movie is separate from the comics and incorparates different timelines. Emma Frost is in it, and I don't think she's been in any of the other movies. Oh, and Gambit too!

What I should be doing now:

Preparing for my May 8th test

What I'm listening to know:

Ofra Haza Prayer, Alive, Song of a Tease, Jerusalem of Gold, Come and play me*
*I hope this isn't the real translation of the song

What I should be listening to:

Old lectures

Gonna find a guy [Apr. 12th, 2009|06:41 pm]
[mood | hopeful]

I joined jdate (on-line dating site for Yids). It's fun to stalk people . . .hopefully I'll find that special someone. My ovaries ain't getting any younger:)

Meh. [Apr. 9th, 2009|05:55 pm]
[mood | disappointed]

I'm not impressed with the Spring offerings of anime this season in Japan. I looked forward to Full Metal Alchemist the most, but it's a re-imaging of the show . . .it doesn't pick up where the first series left off (course it's hard to write a plotline with Ed fighting the Nazis in an alternate Earth . . .) Nothing screams, "Watch this now!" like Vampire Knight last season. I still have to finish up with Soul Eater and Naruto Shippuden. Maybe I'll do that instead of starting something new.

Fun with matzo [Mar. 31st, 2009|05:13 pm]
[Current Location |My room]
[mood | calm]

Passover is next week, and there are no brownies to be had. I went to 3 Shoprites. Nothing. I did get 5 pounds of Matzo for $3 so I guess it was worthwhile (I want my %^*&ing brownies). I'll probably head to Upenn's campus on Saturday to get some last minute items (cheese, salmon steaks, etc.) I'm thinking of becoming certified in CPR/First Aid to add to my resume. If I want to go into Long Term Care, all the nursing homes want to see that. Re-read Watchman last night. Excellent comic book. I like it better than all the other Alan Moore works . . .I didn't even finish From Hell or League of Extraordinary Gentlemen cuz I got bored. V for Vendetta was okay.

I needs to do stuff [Mar. 26th, 2009|03:39 pm]
[mood | content]

I graduate in 8 weeks and I still don't understand how the heart works. There are ventricles and valves and atria and something about pumping . . .oh well. I have 1 more rotation left until graduation at a local community hospital. I'll be with one of my favorite professors. Hope I don't say something dumb and make his opinion of me drop like all the other preceptors I had:)

Maintenance replaced my light bulbs! I have 3 new bulbs in the bathroom and a new bulb in the fridge. Happy Day! Too bad I'm moving out in July.

Boo school [Mar. 2nd, 2009|02:21 pm]
[Current Location |YONO]
[mood | cranky]

School was in session during the blizzard, but the school shuttles didn't run all day. I guess if a student slips and breaks an arm on the sidewalk, it okay, but if a bus driver gets into an accident, he/she can sue the school for lots of $$$. Got through my test, but I need to find a job soon . . .

Jew Years [Jan. 1st, 2009|09:57 pm]
[Current Location |YONO fortress]
[mood | content]

I spent New Years in New York with my guy friends. I was watching TV at the apartment, and an alarm went off. It keep ringing and ringing and ringing. Andy said that it was a car alarm from the parking lot. I smelled something weird in the apartment, but didn't make the connection between that and the alarm. Finally, there was a buzz at the door from the fireman telling us to GET OUT OF THE BUILDING. Turns out the alarm was the fire alarm, but Andy didn't know that because he just moved in a few months ago. There were 6 fire trucks outside the building and tons of firemen. The cause wasn't a fire; just smoke from a burned out water pump (or something like that).

My friends made me drink at the party (jerks) and I managed to swallow some volka and cranberry juice. I hate alcohol . .. it burns my mouth and hurts my stomach. I went back to the bar and just got cranberry juice. It was delicious.

Restaurant Week [Sep. 18th, 2008|05:48 pm]
[mood | okay]

I went to restaurant week at Star and Plough last night. Totally not worth it, but you only live once I suppose. The first dish was something with duck in it, which was yummy. The appetizer was smoked salmon and pita and hummus stuff, and I got the steak entree. Dessert was a sampler with cheesecake and cream brulee and I traded my chocolate and mousse for another piece of cheesecake with my friend. I couldn't believe they charged $3 for coffee (which was watery). I could have gotten the $9.99 3 course deal at Applebee's and be equally satisfied. Instead it cost me $45 making it more expensive than my Kobe beef meal in Japan. Oh well. It was my first American expensive restaurant meal. And probably my last.

Sooo tired [Jun. 6th, 2008|06:20 pm]
[mood | groggy]

Although I mainly surf the web at my internship, I'm so exhausted when I get home. On the plus side, I can drive now:) I go 60 mph down 202, wind in my hair, blasting B101 . . .oddly, I still suck at parking. I can never quite make it in the lines on the first try.

I'm in Malvern until June 30th, then it's off to Hershey Medical Center. I wonder if the patients are made out of chocolate. . . .

Gendou's down. And I haven't got the Vampire Knight opening yet. I wonder if they're being sued.

Updates on resolutions [May. 15th, 2008|05:36 pm]
[mood | bouncy]
[music |Dirty/Nightmare]

1.) Exercise more --> Didn't happen. Got a car which means instead of walking to Shoprite I drive in the Green Beast (my '95 camry)

2.) Study for the Top 200 Drug Test --> Passed on the first go-around

3.) Hang out more with people instead of staying in and goofing off --> Definitely got out more my last year of pharmacy school. Which is probably why my GPA dropped, but what-evah:)

4.) I will not bodily harm my project partner--> Surprisingly, he came through in the end. He busted out the project the night before it was due and it looked awesome. The project didn't exactly fit my imaged time-line, but it got done and that's all I care about.

5.) I will not engage in exercises in futility unless it involves a grade--> failed. I'm still working on the indepedent research project that will never end and classes ended on Monday

6.) I will study 1 kanji a day (so not happening . . .)--> Nope. Too much work.

7.) I will dress up everyday unless my classes are done before noon in which case I'll show up looking like a slob --> Working on this. I got some big girl clothes so people will listen to me on rotations.

8.) I WILL HAVE FUN!!!! --> Yeah, still working on this one. I went bowling and got a 63, which is more than Obama got

9.) I will catch up on all the Avatar episodes (not so much a resolution . . .more like a plan) --> I'm almost done with season 3

10.) I will call my mom and try not to loose patience --> Yep, we're still talking, so I guess I was successful

THE NIGHTMARE HAS ENDED . . .CLASSES ARE OVER, NOW FOR A YEAR OF PHARMACY ROTATIONS! Hope I don't kill anyone. And I'm hooked on D.Grayman now.

I'm Done with SKOOL! For now . . . [Dec. 19th, 2007|06:35 pm]
[mood | creative]

I'm working at CVS on Christmas so my Christian brothas and sistas can have the day off. It's going to beat last year's Christmas of seeing "The Good Sheppard." That movie had so many characters, and since I'm kinda dumb, I couldn't keep track of who was bad and who was good. I kinda hope I'm going to get time and a half cuz I'm greedy like that:)

I heart my job [Dec. 3rd, 2007|08:19 pm]
[Current Location |YONO fortress]
[mood | content]
[music |Access: Trust and Doubt]

I was working this Sunday when all of a sudden, there was a huge boom on the wall next to the pharmacy. I looked over the pharmacy counter and saw a lot of merchandise thrown all over the place, but no customers were in the aisle. (It's the ghosts of all the customers we killed!) The pharmacist came over and noticed a huge crack in the wall. Turns out a car drove into the store. The sad part is this isn't the first time and the last time was less than 12 months ago. It was such a crazy day in the pharmacy that no one seemed overly concerned, although the technician who was fixing the ScriptPro ran outside to check his car. The driver was a young girl, but I don't know anything else. I'll find out more when I go back on Saturday if this week doesn't do me in.

I bought a digital camera to take to Israel, but I'm not quite sure how to use it. I'm not so hot with technology. I hope the instructions are written in Stupid.

Can I go home now? [Nov. 19th, 2007|05:04 pm]
[mood | content]

I'm heading home for Thanksgiving! And my Grandma is going to town, so I'm really excited. Yummy turkey and sides straight from Boston Market. Thank G-d too, because my mom can't cook to save her life. Only 1 test (and a quiz) stand between me and the holidays . . .come on, Wednesday! I hope the R2 isn't as crowded as it was last year. . .

I-don't-wanna-study-no-mo' [Nov. 11th, 2007|04:29 pm]
[mood | cranky]

OMG, I hate grad school. It sucks to take a hard test and then have the girl next to me be like, "it was identical to the back test I had." Everyone seems to have back tests, but I don't want to ask people for them because I want to try to learn from the notes we're given in class. This week I got a C on an econ test when the average was in the 80s. Apparently, the answers were similar to the back tests. *sighs* Maybe I'll get some for the final.

I got accepted to go to Israel this winter session, so if anyone wants something specific, let me know! I'm going to try to get manga in Hebrew. It's kinda a shame my Japanese is better than the holy language I really should know (and my Japanese kinda sucks). Maybe it'll improve!

Seek and ye shall find [Nov. 5th, 2007|09:21 pm]
[mood | content]

So my gas stovetop wouldn't light this evening and I couldn't figure out why. I lifted the top, and the cause was a ziti noodle that was trapped between the gas line and the flame. I gotta be more careful. Luckily, a sketchy maintenance guy came to my aid with a lighter. The woman at the front desk was like, "You don't have any matches or lighter?" I don't smoke, so why would I have them? But now I can make oatmeal tomorrow so life is good.

I'm so sick of school . . . [Oct. 25th, 2007|05:16 pm]
[mood | tired]

I WANT MY DIPLOMA *cries* I don't know how much more of the daily BS I can put up with. Although the confrontation during Diversity over which is more potent, crack or powder was pretty interesting. I kind of woke up during that hour.

Interactions with my customers:

Woman: What do you recommend for Typhoid?
Me: . . .benedryl?

Man: I think the drug store filled my medication under my brother's name.
Me: No problem . . .I'll create your own profile, so you'll never be confused with your brother again!
Man: My brother died last week.
Me. . . .I'm so sorry.

Woman: I need this medication immediately!
Me: *see the medication is a highly addictive substance and sighs*

I need a vacation . . .

Yay and Nah [Sep. 24th, 2007|09:04 pm]
[mood | anxious]

So the blood tests came back and the doctor called to say I'm fine, which I'm very happy about. However, I'm having problems walking on the leg where the black and blue marks used to be. I can't seem to extend the leg muscle the whole way, which means I have to go back to the doctor in student health hell. Hopefully, this problem is all in my head and I'll be fine tomorrow for my class presentation. Otherwise, it will be an issue when I limp to the front of the classroom. . .

Adventures in Free Health Care [Sep. 19th, 2007|08:34 pm]
[mood | cranky]
[music |Rehab]

This is probably TMI, but I have 2 black and blue marks on my leg and I can't remember how I got them. My friend suggested a man was sneaking into my room and having his way with me, but it would have to be a one-armed man because the bruises are on the same leg so that was unlikely. I mentioned it to my Dad (the bruises, not the night visitor), and he told me to go see the doctor at the health center, which is pretty much equal to UDEL's death services. I still don't see how the date of my last period is related to the medical problem I'm seeking help for. If I was like, hmmmm must have been 9 months ago, and I've gained like 10 pounds, and every now and then something inside of me kicks . . . .then yes, that question would be helpful. At least they didn't ask me if I was on drugs.

Then the nurse says, "So you have black and blue marks on your legs." Then she says, "Did you fall?" If I fell, that would explain the bruises and I wouldn't spend an hour in the hell that is the student health center. At least the doctor took me seriously. She said it might be thrombocytopenia and (at first I got really happy because I studied that and knew what it was and then I was like, well damn) and I got a prescription to get blood drawn which was today's adventure.

The woman at the blood center asked if I was married and I said no. The she said, "Social?" And I said I didn't do drugs or alcohol and this woman begins to laugh her ass off at me. She laughed so hard, tears were coming out of her eyes. She apparently wanted my social security number. Then my face got really red and she laughed some more and I realized that this encounter would be re-enacted several times after I left. I am legend.

At least the nurse didn't bruise me like the witches at Lab Corp. . .

Must be time for school [Sep. 5th, 2007|09:16 pm]
[mood | creative]

I definitely only write in this thing when I'm avoiding school work. Oh well.

One more year, then rotations! So what if I have too much homework and insane assignments. I have this one case and this is what I came up so far:

Assessment #1: My carefully designed drug regime will be ultimately ignored by the patient who will continue to drink heavily, and smoke both nicotine and marijuana.

Plan #1: Instead of writing this tedious SOAP note, the patient should be discharged from the hospital and nature should be allowed to take its course while the student pharmacist goes on youtube to look for the video with all the prisoners dancng to Thriller.

If only I could turn this in . . .
